The longer story

Emily served as a multi-term law clerk at the Mississippi State Supreme Court for Presiding Justices Jess H. Dickinson and Randy J. Pierce, conducting extensive legal research and drafting judicial opinions in complex civil and criminal matters. She became the first individual to be appointed as a salaried law clerk by court order prior to graduating from law school — a reflection of exceptional trust from the state's highest court.

In the decade that followed, she developed sophisticated ghostwriting services for other law firms, specializing in complex and novel litigation — analyzing intricate legal issues and conveying nuanced legal arguments effectively for practitioners who needed expert analysis and drafting support on their most challenging cases.

Her earlier career in marketing strategy for a global aerospace manufacturer, spanning civil, paramilitary, and military applications, translated complex strategies into actionable insights that drove market growth, and still informs the pragmatic, business-aligned counsel the firm gives today.

As leader of Declercq Law Firm, Emily emphasizes innovation and collaboration, maintaining an expansive network of legal professionals to bring diverse expertise to bear when a matter demands it. Her practice is driven by thorough, results-driven strategies and a commitment to justice.
